2025 Playford Trust First Year University Scholarships

The Playford Trust has recently opened applications for its prestigious university scholarships and is seeking interest from current Year 12 students who may be planning to embark on a STEM-related university course in 2025.

The Trust, established by a Deed signed by the Premier in 1983, has always enjoyed bi-partisan political support. It operates as a not-for-profit charitable Trust, with a focus on areas of strategic and economic importance to the State.

The scholarships on offer to first-year University students next year include:

  • Aerospace Engineering Scholarships – Provided in partnership with the Andy Thomas Foundation, University of Adelaide and UniSA, eight scholarships are available for high-achieving school leavers aiming to commence an engineering degree, majoring in aerospace. Each scholarship is valued at $5,000.
  • Resources Sector Engineering Scholarships – Up to 20 scholarships will be provided in partnership with the SA Government and several of the resource companies leading our technological future. Valued at $10,000 a year for two years, with professional development/mentoring opportunities available.
  • Rural STEM scholarships – For SA rural and regional students who are planning to study STEM subjects at any of our public universities in 2025. Six scholarships of $5,000 each are available to help cover the additional expenses associated with living and studying in Adelaide.
  • Residential scholarships for rural and regional students – Offered in partnership with St Ann’s College and Chartwell’s, for students enrolling to live at St Ann’s Residential College, North Adelaide. Three scholarships of $10,000 are available. One will give preference to students who identify as Indigenous.
  • Residential STEM scholarships – Offered in partnership with St Mark’s Residential College, North Adelaide. Two scholarships of $8,000 are available for first-year students enrolling to live at St Mark’s and ready to commence an undergraduate degree studying science, engineering, mathematics, or technology subjects.
  • Residential scholarship for rural and regional students – Offered in partnership with Lincoln College, North Adelaide, with preference given to a student from a regional or rural area. One scholarship of $8000 is available to a first-year student, ready to commence an undergraduate degree studying science, engineering, mathematics, or technology subjects.
