Having met with Telstra prior to the 3G switch off in late October when they assured that no one would be worse off with their coverage because of it, it is very disappointing that we continue to receive reports that this has not been the case.
Our office is collating all the information and locations reported to us and I will soon be re-contacting Telstra management to discuss again.
If you haven’t already, please report to my office your experience, and what solutions you have been offered.
Keep sending in your YP Health Inquiry submissions
We continue to receive submissions for lodging to the underway Parliamentary Inquiry into the delivery of health services on Yorke Peninsula, and I am aware many have also been sent directly to the Economic and Finance Committee which is fantastic.
For information on how to contribute and where to lodge, as well as our petition and the subsequent Inquiry commenced, please visit this website for relevant articles, or call or email my office.
This is our unique opportunity to have our say and call for change! Deadline is 7 February 2025.
Grants
Congratulations to Price Progress on recently receiving $30,000 for their Community Shed upgrade via the Grants SA Social Impact Round 1, and also to Lochiel Progress for its $25,132 from the Grants SA 2024-25 Community Centres Round for community program delivery.
These small communities are so very deserving of such support, and I commend the dedicated local volunteers who devote a lot of time to improving the lives of those who live and work within them.
The On-farm Drought Infrastructure Rebate Scheme remains open, as does the Active State Collaboration Program and the SA Football Facilities Fund (the latter closing on 5 February but with a new round to open in August 2025; a great program for new changerooms, lighting, turf, posts, nets, coach/timekeeper boxes etcetera).
I also remind that the “Sports Vouchers Plus” program (formerly known as Sports Vouchers) now offers two $100 vouchers per calendar year for students from Reception to Year 9 to use to help pay subs for traditional sports – and now also for music lessons, dance classes, learn to swim programs and Scouts and Guides.
For further information about this program or any of the above funds, visit the Grants tab of this website, or please call or email for assistance.
