Grassroots Sports

27 Oct 2018

Sports clubs are being encouraged to apply for the State Government's new Grassroots Football, Cricket and Netball Facilities program which opened on 24 October 2018 and closes on 27 February 2019.

The Grassroots Football, Cricket, and Netball Facility Program is aimed at increasing participation and improving gender equity in Australian Rules Football, Cricket and Netball to support healthier, happier, and safer communities.

The program will assist eligible organisations to develop core infrastructure that directly impacts participation through rational development of good quality, well designed and utilised facilities.

"We're investing $10 million over the next two years, on grassroots community sports clubs, with a focus on female and family-friendly infrastructure," said Minister for Recreation, Sport and Racing Corey Wingard MP when announcing the program.

"As previously announced, the program will be supported by an extra $1 million of funding, each from SACA/Cricket Australia and the SANFL/AFL, with an option to extend it by another year to the tune of $5 million.

The program is also supported by Netball SA.
