Lodge a submission to underway YP Health Inquiry

28 Nov 2024

The Parliament of South Australia's Economic and Finance Committee has called for submissions to the "Inquiry on the delivery of health services on the Yorke Peninsula", triggered by the petition lodged by Fraser Ellis MP calling for improvements to local health service delivery that was signed by 10,688 people--the largest petition in the history of his electorate.

Fraser encourages as many people as possible to participate in this Inquiry which is a first formally referred to the Economic and Finance Committee and as such is a vital rare opportunity to have your say and ultimately, instigate system change.

Submissions can take any written form and be as long or short as you wish to make.

They can be an email or letter to the Committee, a short statement, a detailed paper or another format. They may also include appendices and supporting evidence and documents.

Content can be about your direct experience with Yorke Peninsula health services (good or bad) at any/all local hospital and services; the impact it had on you, your family or business or industry; and can include the changes you believe are needed.

It is additionally recommended submissions address at least one of the Inquiry's terms of reference (noting the last point offers broad scope):

1. the classification of the Wallaroo Hospital;

2. the most appropriate Local Health Network coverage of the Port Pirie Hospital;

3. factors impacting the delivery of health services on the Yorke Peninsula and especially in relation to access and equity; and

4. any other matter relating to health services on the Yorke Peninsula.

Please have your submission in by 7 February 2025 (5 pm), to The Parliamentary Officer, Economic and Finance Committee, either by post:

GPO Box 572

ADELAIDE SA 5001

or via email: [email protected]

All submissions will be made publicly available (removing private phone numbers, signatures and addresses) unless determined otherwise by the Committee; please contact the electorate office or the committee if you wish your submission or parts of it, to be kept confidential.

The Committee considers each submission it receives and decides whether to accept and publish it.

You should not publish or share your submission until you are advised  you may do so by Committee staff as to do so may risk your submission not being covered by the full protection of parliamentary privilege.

A committee can decide not to publish all or part of a submission; reasons this may occur include the submission not addressing the terms of reference, containing offensive language, or commenting upon matters that are currently in court.
