New electoral boundaries - final report released

19 Nov 2020 media release

Member for Narungga Fraser Ellis MP advises the final boundary redistribution report was released by the Electoral Districts Boundaries Commission on 18 November.

The new boundaries take effect from the March 2022 election and the significant changes for the Narungga electorate are that Adelaide Plains communities have largely been removed from the State seat of Narungga and placed into a new-look Frome electorate, and localities north of the electorate’s current boundaries including Blyth, Brinkworth, Koolunga and Redhill have been moved into Narungga.

“This means communities such as Mallala, Dublin and Long Plains and the beach communities of Port Parham, Thompson Beach and Webb Beach, which I have come to love, will find themselves in the new-look seat of Frome, effective at the time of the next State election in March 2022,” said Mr Ellis.

“To offset this, Narungga has been extended north to include communities such as Blyth, Brinkworth and Redhill.

“It has been a tremendous honour to represent the people of the Adelaide Plains district and work with the Adelaide Plains and Mallala Councils for the past three years, and I thank all within these communities who made me feel so welcome as a first term MP.

"It is upsetting that these communities have been removed from the electorate into a new-look Frome seat but I now look forward to getting to know the new communities in Narungga, and forging new relationships with constituents and stakeholders, should I be privileged to again be elected as the Member for Narungga in March 2022.”
