Priorities document released - "Narungga Needs"

03 Oct 2025

Member for Narungga Fraser Ellis MP was pleased this week to release ‘Narungga Needs’ – a document that outlines his vision for the future of our region as we approach the next State Election.

“This document is the culmination of the almost eight years that I have been representing our wonderful region in the State Parliament,” Mr Ellis said.

“We have managed to get a great deal done and delivered but there is always more that needs doing and this booklet lists some of those initiatives that we absolutely need.

“Top of list are essential infrastructure projects and health care improvements that we, as a community, have been advocating for but that remain undelivered.”

The 28-page document contains bricks and mortar investment as well as proposed new policy ideas that would improve the prospects of regional South Australia.

“There are a few new ideas that I have been pushing in Parliament that have arisen out of interactions with constituents and would improve our situation in Narungga,” he said.

“A favourite of mine amongst them is the idea that the State should impose a legal obligation upon itself to maintain our roads to a safe standard.

“Other states have that obligation but it appears as though South Australia does not and we have so many roads that are in a state of disrepair.

“If they’re not going to fix our roads, they should compensate us to fix our vehicles.”

Other initiatives in the booklet look to address mobile connectivity black spots, red tape and tax reduction, better preparation for power outages and provide increased support for the agricultural industry.

While this document has been developed with reflection upon the many dealings with the community it is open to feedback.

“I have drafted this using my best efforts to reflect the will and desire of the electorate,” Mr Ellis said “but I am always open to feedback and change if something in there is not perfect.

“Please grab a copy, have a read and let me know what you think.

“With the election due in March next year I believe this document is our opportunity to get our priorities on the agenda of all parties who are striving to form Government or hold the balance of power.

“I will be doing my level best to ensure that it is endorsed by all sides.”

Copies of “Narungga Needs 2026-2030” are available at the Narungga Electorate office at 37 Graves Street Kadina; and can additionally be emailed or posted upon request.
