The Office for Ageing Well provides a range of Ageing Community and Research Grants to fund initiatives that reflect the SA Government's commitment to supporting South Australians to age well, and help deliver on SA's Plan for Ageing Well 2020-2025 and associated strategies.
These grant programs are administered via a competitive grants round each year, and these grants opened for applications today.
To be considered for grant funding, organisations must have a registered Australian Business Number (ABN) and should be working with older people, including those from diverse cultures and backgrounds. Projects and activities should contribute to building and maintaining inclusive communities focussed on ageing well.
Grants timeline
Open: Today, Friday 27 September 2024 (ahead of South Australia’s Week of Ageing Well, 1-7 October), 12pm
Close: Friday 22 November 2024, 5pm
Estimated success notification: March-April 2025
Projects commence: 1 June 2025
Grants for Seniors (Goods / Projects)
Description: One-off grants of up to $5,000 for goods and $10,000 for projects that support community organisations to provide opportunities for older South Australians to engage with the community, including to support community activities during South Australia’s Week of Ageing Well (1-7 October 2024). This program has a focus on priority populations.
Eligibility: Non-government, non-profit incorporated organisations.
Positive Ageing Fellowship Grants
Description: One-off grants of up to $40,000 for capability building projects that support older South Australians, including those from diverse communities and backgrounds and locations, to age well and be recognised for their valued contributions across their lifetime.
Eligibility: Non-government, non-profit incorporated organisations.
Age Friendly SA Grants
Description: One-off grants of up to $40,000 to local governments or equivalent organisations, or $60,000 for regional partnerships of three or more local governments or equivalent organisations working together, to deliver projects that contribute to an age friendly South Australia. Age Friendly SA grants are for projects aligned to the key priorities set out in the Age Friendly SA Strategy.
Eligibility: Local governments and equivalent organisations, including South Australia’s 68 councils, South Australian Regional Local Government Associations, and Aboriginal and Outback Communities.
Impact Research Grants for Ageing Well in South Australia
Description: Grant program to support the implementation of the Strategic Research Agenda for Ageing Well in South Australia and kick-start policy relevant research priorities, with a focus on a particular research priority. One major grant of up to $100,000 (over two years) and two seed grants of up to $25,000 each are provided. Funding for the major project is split over two years, with $50,000 provided to the current year recipient in 2023-24 for year 1 of their project, and $50,000 provided to the previous year recipient for year two of their project. In 2024-25 the research pillar of Sense of Community – People will be the focus.
Eligibility: University and research organisations, and researchers.
