Recommendations from Health Inquiry accepted by Government

27 Nov 2025 media release

Member for Narungga Fraser Ellis MP is pleased to advise the formal Government response to the Inquiry into the Delivery of Health Services on the Yorke Peninsula was tabled in Parliament on 26 November and that all committee recommendations have been accepted.

“The delivery of the government’s response now completes the inquiry process that began with the local community petition we launched calling for improved health services back in 2022, which went on to tally near 11,000 signatures.

“I am so grateful to all who helped with the petition, who signed it, distributed and returned completed sheets, and then all who lodged submissions to the Inquiry, both oral and written.

“It has been a mammoth task, and I am pleased that the Government has accepted all the recommendations made by the Economic and Finance Committee.”

Mr Ellis concedes that whilst there is disappointment that most recommendations were to further “investigate” certain actions in response to the evidence presented during the Inquiry, or that the State will ask the Federal Government to action, acceptance of them all is a positive step.

“Outcomes include an underway Strategic Infrastructure Assessment for Wallaroo Hospital which is a vital first step to increasing its capacity (beds and resources) to better meet demand, more discussions about expanding emergency CT imaging availability beyond 10 pm, and a specific look at expanding CaFHS services for Southern Yorke Peninsula.

“I was pleased to speak to the report in the chamber today, a fitting last speech on the final day of sitting before the election.

“It is now incumbent on everyone seeking election – both as a candidate to represent Narungga and as a party seeking to form Government – to commit to outcomes that reflect the intent of the recommendations delivered.

“I certainly commit to continuing my fight for better local health services and delivering on the inquiry.”
