Round 3 Grassroots Football Netball and Cricket program now open

03 Apr 2020 Newsmedia release

The State Government Grassroots Football, Cricket and Netball Facility program is aimed at increasing participation and improving gender equity in Australian Rules Football, Cricket and Netball to support healthier, happier and safer communities.

Round 3 ($5 million made available) opened on 1 April and closes midday 30 April.

This program is suitable for councils and for non profit sport clubs, associations or sports facilities incorporated under the Associations Incorporations Act 1985 that have been operating for 12 months or longer.

Previous recipients have used this program to build unisex change room facilities, redevelop or refurbish current change facilities, reinvigorate tired sporting surfaces (cricket pitches, netball courts, ovals with drainage and irrigation etc) and install new state-of-the-art lighting infrastructure.

The program has financial and executive support from the three relevant peak sporting bodies - South Australian National Football League, South Australian Cricket Association and Netball South Australia. As well as putting money behind the program, these state sporting organisations work with the Office for Recreation, Sport and Racing to assess the projects.

Eligible applicants may apply under the following categories:

Standard development

Dollar for dollar funding from $25,000 up to $500,000 (50%).

Major development

Projects valued over $1.5 million may apply for a third of the project up to $1 million (i.e. in the case of a Council undertaking a large new facility, if the total project value is $3 million then $1 million can be applied for).

Preference will be given for projects that are ready to start construction within three months of receiving funding. However, projects that can be started within six months will also receive consideration.
