Two sport and rec grants now open

28 Aug 2025

Two major grants programs supporting South Australian sport and active recreation clubs are now open, with a pool of more than $7 million available to get communities active and upgrade facilities across the State.

Recipients of the government initiatives -- the Community Recreation and Sport Facilities Program (CRSFP) and the Active Club Program (ACP) --will use funding allocated to build new infrastructure and help clubs grow and expand their impact.

Over $5.7 million is on offer through the latest round of the Community Recreation and Sport Facilities Program, which continues to help organisations deliver inclusive and fit-for-purpose facilities.

Clubs can apply for up to $750,000 to cover significant project costs like upgrading clubrooms, creating accessible playing fields, improving lighting and installing new irrigation systems.

Two-out-of-three recipients in the previous CRSFP round were based in greater metropolitan and regional areas, demonstrating the program's wider benefits.

A further $1.3 million is available under the Active Club Program, set to support hundreds of clubs with the programs and services they provide to their communities.

Drought-affected clubs are encouraged to apply after the State Government introduced new measures as part of the program, including water-saving and energy efficient initiatives as well as whitegoods to help reduce operating costs.

Grants up to $3,000 can also be used to invest in equipment, uniforms and professional development along with period products and menstrual health training -- tearing down barriers to female participation and helping girls thrive in sport.

Recreational fishing clubs will share in a stream of $200,000 as part of the ACP, building on the Government's support to fishers during the unprecedented algal bloom.

Applications for the Community Recreation and Sport Facilities Program and the Active Club Program close in early October.
