Upper Yorke Road gazetted for A Doubles - a win for farmer efficiency

05 Feb 2026

Member for Narungga Fraser Ellis MP is very pleased to advise that the recently upgraded Upper Yorke Road has now been gazetted for 30 metre A Double combinations, eliminating the need for individual primary producers and carriers to require permits to travel along it.

“Farmers have been calling for this regulation change for many months and it will immediately translate to increased productivity and cost savings, as well as taking the pressure off the Yorke Highway and the Yorke Peninsula Road Network”, Mr Ellis said.

“We, and industry, have been fighting for this for many months, including raising the issue in the chamber last June, and I’m very happy to have been able to help deliver this positive outcome.

“The section of Upper Yorke Road from Kulpara to Maitland is now published on the National Heavy Vehicle Regulator’s network map to carry 30 metre A-Double road trains which means a very welcome reduction of red tape for local primary producers.”
