Member for Narungga Fraser Ellis MP is excited to today be advised that the major resurfacing works on the main tourism thoroughfare into Wallaroo from Kadina is to finally commence – earmarked for next Monday 8 September 2025.
“We have advocated for years for this stretch of road to be rebuilt and resurfaced, being an eyesore for tourists and a rough ride for locals”, Mr Ellis said.
“Finally, the substantive road works will commence and the finished product is in sight!”
“Completion is expected in April 2026 with the upgrades incorporating not just the entrance from Kadina into Wallaroo along the Copper Coast Highway from the Sharples Road and Bowman Road roundabout, but also traversing into Victoria Street, Owen Terrace and Irwine Street.
“Whilst the works will require speed and lane restrictions and short-term detours, the end result I am sure will be worth any inconvenience.”
This much anticipated project has been a joint initiative between Copper Coast Council and the State Government.
“This is a fantastic project and credit to Copper Coast Council for completing the preliminary major stormwater and other associated works that was required before this project could commence.
“It was way back in 2021 when Mayor Talbot and I launched a petition for this work to be done, culminating in me presenting it to Parliament in August of that year, calling for this much needed investment.
“With jubilation, the funding was secured in 2022 and I now so look forward to seeing the end result”, said Mr Ellis.
