All welcome at Cost-of-Living Forums on 7 September

10 Aug 2023

I am pleased to be hosting two community forums next month to provide some advice on available government concessions and assistance to help households combat ever rising costs of living.

With so many constituents now dealing with stretched budgets because of rising energy and food bills and high interest rates, I felt arranging a couple of local information sessions may be beneficial, with topics to include available government concessions and subsidies, budgeting, and navigating and reducing power bills.

The forums will be held on 7 September, one in the morning at Wallaroo Community Sports Club (9.30am-11am) and one in the afternoon at Minlaton Football Club (2pm-3.30pm); guest speakers will include representatives from the Department of Human Services and the Department of Energy.

No bookings/RVSPs are necessary; all welcome. Anyone requiring more information can contact my office on 8832 2455 or email [email protected]

Out and About

I was pleased to launch the Wallaroo Rehabilitation Service at Wallaroo Hospital on 19 July on behalf of Minister for Health Chris Picton MP. This is a brilliant first service of its type for our region and is described as a game changer for our health network, providing patients with on-site access to a social worker, occupational therapists, physiotherapists, dietitians, Allied Health Assistants and a speech pathologist all in the one location.

I was also proud to speak at the opening of the SA Regional Disability, Ageing and Lifestyle Expo at Kadina on 2 August. Congratulations to all involved; it was a terrific showcase of about 70 service providers under the one roof at the Copper Coast Sport and Leisure Centre.

Grants

Pleasingly, 33 local sports clubs were successful in the latest Office of Sport and Recreation “Active Club” round, and now a new round of the Community Recreation and Sport Facilities Program has just opened (refer Grants tab on this website). Other programs currently open are the Nature Tourism Fund (for private sector businesses and community associations) and free training opportunities via the Small Business Fundamentals Program.
