It is hard to believe that 2022 is nearing a close, and that Christmas is now less than a week away. I have greatly enjoyed being at home in the electorate for most of December, attending end of school year celebrations, presenting medallions to meritorious students, being a part of the Kadina Santa trail, and visiting towns to pick up and replenish petition sheets to continue the vital call for improvements to our local health services.
The numbers of signatures being collected and the numbers of people assisting with the distribution of petition sheets continues to be impressive and I thank everyone who has supported the cause and who continue to do so. Whilst I believe there are many sheets still to be counted/collected at shops and businesses across the electorate, I can advise the tally received at the Kadina Electorate Office now stands at more than 4,000 signatures. So, taking into consideration sheets yet to come back into the office, I predict we are now over halfway to reaching the target of 10,000 signatures that we need to trigger a formal Parliamentary Inquiry into the Narungga (and rural) health services.
It is an ambitious tally target, but I believe we can reach it. Please continue to urge friends and family to seek out a petition sheet at a local business and sign the petition or make contact with my office and we can get a petition sheet to you. Remember, signatures can be from any South Australian resident over the age of 18, not just locals.
Grants news
In recent weeks I have been busy providing letters of support for a multitude of applications to various government programs from local organisations and clubs planning projects (well done all). Whilst many funds close in December, two that remain open include the Office for Ageing Well Community Grants Program that assists community groups to support older South Australians to age well (Grants for Seniors, Positive Ageing Fellowship, and Age Friendly SA Grants) and Veterans SA grant programs. Visit the Grants tab on this website for more information.
Shop local
It is so very pleasing to see busy local main streets filled with people shopping at local businesses; it cannot be stressed enough how important it is for our towns and the small businesses who service us so well to BUY LOCAL!
The electorate office will be closed for a Christmas break, from 5 pm Thursday 22 December to 9 am Tuesday 3 January 2023. My sincere best wishes to all for the festive season and a happy and prosperous 2023.
