Financial assistance for tourism and events

The Marshall Liberal Government has announced financial assistance for small to medium regional event organisers and small tourism businesses and sole traders.

There are two Grants Funds open today: the Regional Events Grants Fund and the Small Tourism Business Grants Fund.

Regional Events Grants Fund

The purpose of the Regional Events Grants Fund, initiated by the South Australian Tourism Commission, is to provide financial support for small to medium regional event organisers who have experienced financial loss due to the forced cancellation or postponement of an event staged between 16 March 2020 and 31 August 2020 as a result of COVID-19.

These events are broken into two groups - Regional Events and Community Events. 

Regional Events:

Criteria takes into account location, economic return, value to the region, and attendance figures (must attract more than 1,000 people). Up to a maximum $5,000 is available, subject to the losses incurred. 

Community Events:

To be eligible the event must been driven primarily by a local community and expected to attract more than 500 people. A maximum of $2,000 is available, subject to the losses incurred. 

THESE FUNDS OPEN TODAY 3 April 2020 and CLOSE 5 PM 17 April. 

Agricultural Shows, education events, markets, fundraising activities and conferences are not eligible.

Small Tourism Business Grants Fund:

The purpose of the Small Tourism Business Grant Fund is to provide financial support for sole traders and small tourism businesses with an annual turnover of greater than $100,000 and less than $1 million who have experienced financial loss as a result of COVID-19. The fund aims to provide an immediate injection of funds to boost the cash flow for small tourism businesses that will relieve the burden of reduced business during this period of uncertainty. 

Applicants may receive a one-off cash payment up to a maximum of $10,000 to pay relevant business expenses. 

OPEN Friday 3 April

CLOSE 5pm Friday 17 April unless funding is fully exhausted beforehand.
