Health Petition to trigger rural health reform

14 Oct 2022 media release

Such has been the outpouring of concern raised with me about local health services and the continuing impacts of ongoing GP shortages, I will on Monday launch a petition with the aim of reaching 10,000 signatures to force parliamentary action to improve health services in our electorate and across rural SA.

The quote from Albert Einstein that goes along the lines of “insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results” appears to ring true when it comes to rural health. Governments can’t expect system improvements without instigating change and I am sick of raising concerns with Parliamentary colleagues and having them agree that something must be done and then nothing appearing to happen.

Stay tuned for more details on how to assist in gathering the 10,000 signatures needed to trigger this action!

I am so grateful for the support already received, and additionally to the many locals who have shared their valuable feedback with me about local health services, including multiple local GPs and nursing staff.
