Minister Wingard visits local sports clubs

31 Aug 2020

Member for Narungga Fraser Ellis MP was pleased to host a visit from Minister for Recreation, Sport and Racing the Hon Corey Wingard last Thursday and Friday (27/28 August).

“This was a good opportunity for the Minister to see completed upgrades of local sporting clubs funded from state grants, and for him to meet with clubs that have future projects planned.

“The Minister visited Wallaroo Football Club, Kadina Football Club, Arthurton Basketball Club, Minlaton basketball stadium and Curramulka Community Club and appreciated the time spent with local club members who work so hard to bring such projects to fruition for the betterment of their town and community.

“The projects viewed included courts resurfacing, building refurbishments such as insulation to reduce power costs, and new flood lighting.

“In the vicinity of $900,000 has been allocated to sporting groups in the Narungga electorate in the last two years and this investment is vital to ensure local clubs are properly maintained to serve current and future generations.

“Round 49 of the Office for Sport & Recreation’s Active Club Program is currently open until 23 September. I encourage all sporting clubs and organisations to apply for up to $3,000 to purchase sport equipment, uniforms, digital resources and, in this special round, hand sanitiser and cleaning products if that’s what your club needs. Visit my website for more details or give the Maitland office a call.

“There’s also assistance available for sporting clubs with significant water bills to pay. The Water Relief Grants Program has been extended to 30 September.”
