October update

Kadina Memorial School a pop-up vaccination hub

I was pleased that the largest school outside the metropolitan area in Kadina Memorial School has been selected as one of 18 schools across the State to have a pop-up COVID-19 vaccination hub established in it, in an effort to boost vaccination rates.

At time of writing, I’m advised the hub will commence operating in the next couple of weeks and will be part of a six-week blitz to administer first and second doses. The Kadina School facility will be open to staff and students, and likely to local community members on weekends. More information to come.

Nightworks commence at Port Wakefield

The Department of Infrastructure and Transport advises night works will commence 15 October, as part of the ongoing construction of the $124.5m Port Wakefield Overpass and Highway Duplication Program.

The night works will be undertaken over approximately two months, from just north of the new overpass to just south of Minnie Street.

The works will be undertaken intermittently, Sunday to Friday, between 6 pm and 7 am, and will involve barrier relocation, median removal and installation, pavement constructions, service location, line marking and drainage installation.

Grants

I encourage local sporting clubs to apply for equipment funding via the newly opened Round 50 of the popular Active Club Program. Up to $3,000 is available to clubs needing assistance to acquit various costs such as hand sanitiser, face masks and marshal vests, as well as to purchase uniforms, and sporting or scoring equipment. Also opened are the SA Sport Institute’s Individual Athlete Program and Country Athlete Awards Program which assists young rural athletes travel to Adelaide for specialist training.

I also advise the Coast Protection Grants program offering funding to repair, restore and sustain regional coastal areas is still open but closes on 29 October.
