The Federal Government's Saluting Their Service Commemorative Grants Program has opened for applications and will remain open until 9 pm AEDT Tuesday 6 February 2024.
This program aims to commemorate the service and sacrifice of Australia's defence personnel in wars, conflicts and peace operations, and their families and funds projects from eligible organisations that promote appreciation and understanding of Australia's wartime heritage.
Eligible applicants include co-operatives, companies, incorporated associations and Local Government, and types of projects that are funded include new memorials, restoration of existing memorials, exhibitions, digital projects (podcasts and documentaries) and publications.
There are 2 categories of grants available under the program:
1. Community Grants - grants to a maximum of $10,000 for local, community-based projects and activities
2. Major Grants - grants between $10,001 and $150,000 are available for major commemorative projects and activities that are significant from a national, state, territory and/or regional perspective.
Assessment of applications is done via three batches: applications submitted between now and 13 June 2023; applications submitted between 14 June 2023 and 10 October 2023; and applications submitted between 11 October 2023 and 6 February 2024. (This allows for organisations to apply for multiple grants throughout the year).
