Member for  Narungga Fraser Ellis MP is very pleased to announce that Barunga West Council and Yorke Peninsula Council combined have received $569,757.44 from the $1.709 million latest round of allocations from the Recreational Fishing, Boating and Camping Facilities Grant Fund.

“This is an estimated third of the total fund going to two councils in the Narungga electorate for projects that will greatly improve recreational fishing and camping amenities for locals and visitors, and I congratulate both councils on their successful applications. “

Barunga West Council has received $200,000 for a new pontoon-based jetty at Port Broughton, and a further $200,000 for a public amenities block at the Port Broughton boat ramp.

Yorke Peninsula Council has been allocated $29,770 for an upgrade of the Point Turton Groyne and a further $139,987.44 for new camp toilet facilities at various locations.

“This is wonderful support for these councils which well understand the value of fishing and recreational facilities for their townships and local economies, and for the local tourism industry.

“Well done to all involved in the planning and advocation of these valuable projects”, Fraser said.

“It is wonderful for the electorate to get such a large chunk of funding.”
